Nick Vujicic wasn’t as fortunate as most of us when he was born, without any medical reasons he was born with neither legs nor arms. His life wasn’t normal and every day of Nick’s life was challenging for him to do some of the simplest things in life.

His early days as a young kid was horrific, he was constantly bullied at school and he suffered from severe depression. Later, he even attempted suicide at the age of 10 by trying to drown himself in a bathtub. But then the love for his parents prevented him and he believed that God had a plan for him. Later, Vujicic realized that he was not alone in his fight and there are many who are struggling just like him and decided to embrace life and help others.

Nick gradually learned how to live a full life with his disabilities, he adapted and learned to do everything just like any normal people do. Today, He can write, use a computer and even type 43 words per minute, plays drums, answer his phone calls, brushes his teeth & almost can do anything by himself. Apart from day to day activities he is also into swimming, plays golf, does sky-diving & surfing. He graduated out of college at the age of 21 with a double major in accountancy and financial planning.

Suffering from a such a major disability and various setbacks in his life, Nick was able to overcome such a prodigious challenge and show the world that if you are willing to do something about your shortcomings, nothing is impossible! In Nick’s own words, “The challenges in our lives are there to strengthen our convictions. They are not there to run us over.” Relishing the Challenge is the key !!

Yes! It’s not easy and one might fail and fail, But to keep trying is the challenge. The human spirit can handle much worse than we realize. All it matters is how you are going to finish and are you going to finish strong?

In Nick’s case, he is just not an ordinary person who overcame his disabilities but an inspirational figure around the world to many ill-fated individuals, he is a motivational speaker traveling around the world, focusing on many issues. He runs an NGO called Life without Limbs and has authored many books.

Personally, I feel at times we should not just be happy by overcoming challenges in our lives but also share our knowledge, experience, and try to inspire a whole lot of people out there. That to me is Alive is Awesome!
